2. Dear Ambrosia — AR Game

Dear Ambrosia is a Augmented Reality World made for Microsoft Hololens 2.

In this game, we create a tilting board game which allows players to control the main character (a marble prince) by adjusting the angle and inclination of the board. To increase our game's scope, we design the board as a two-part maze. Inside the maze, the player can collect different items and try to find the princess. Furthermore, the storyline of our game is to win the princess heart back by selecting the right gift after discovered the princess.

The theme of the 2rd round is “Naive Guest“ and we were tasked to make an experience that a naive guest can play without receiving any instruction

My Responsibilities

01 User Experience Design

I identified the storyline and the interaction map for perdicting the user’s behaviour during playing the game. Therefore, we can better find the difference from what we predict based on the observation.

02 User Feedback

I organized the user’s feedback with GoogleSheet. This kind of qualitative and quantitative data is from customers on their likes, dislikes, impressions, and requests about a product. The team made improvement based on the collected user’s needs.

03 Create Sound Effects

I created multiple sound effects, including character voice, heating, background music, etc., by using adobe audition and live recording.

Game Mechanism

Players need to tilt the board. By tilting it, they can control the “prince” ball to touch the objects and triger the next switch. After players triggered all the switches, they can pass the maze to find the princess.

Oasis is a Virtual Reality World made for Oculus Quest 2.

This is a story about betrayal. The player plays as a robot kid who perfectly obeys the Three Laws of Robotics, escaping from the wasteland to the oasis along with his beloved father in the post-apocalyptic era. But what will happen on this dangerous escape adventure?

Can the robot and the father successfully reach their destination?

The theme of the 4th round is “Story“ and we were tasked to make a narrative driven experience.

My Responsibilities

01 User Experience Researcher

Because the task is to make a driven expereince for players, we decide to create a single storyline. We made a initial demo to help us playtest. We want to see if the players can unserstand the visual and aural instruction.

02 User Interface Design

I designed the user interface and instruction based on the theme of technology and cyberpunk. We want the player to be immersed in what the robot feels like and what it needs to do.

03 Dialogue Recording

I used the sound booth to record the dialogue in the game. The dialogue provide an aural immersive experience for the player.

Game Mechanism

Players play as a robot in the third-person perspective, and they will follow the story and UI instructions to help another character.
